As a lot of you know, I recently came home from Universal Orlando Resort again. This time, I took my family along. This trip was amazing and I can’t wait to recap it for you.
Let me start by saying, I love Butterbeer™. I really do. I have tried 3 of the 6 versions and enjoyed them both. For your reference, there are 6 types of Butterbeer that can be purchased from Universal Orlando. You can get Butterbeer Frozen, Cold, Hot, Ice Cream, Fudge, and Potted Cream. Most versions are available year round, but Hot Butterbeer is only available when it is chilly out. I haven’t seen an official temperature requirement, so I guess if it is chilly enough to want a hot drink, it should be available. The three I have tried are as follows with my opinions:
- Cold: This version is amazing. It is a lightly carbonated soda type drink. It tastes like a butterscotch cream soda drink. I could drink this way all day long.
- Frozen: This is basically a Butterbeer slushie. It is super sweet. Almost too sweet to be refreshing. We all ordered one and ended up tossing more than half from each cup. It was just too sweet.
- Fudge: The fudge is very good. It isn’t overwhelmingly butterscotch. (No picture of the fudge. I completely forgot to take one)
Now, for the controversy. This trip, I didn’t order any Butterbeer, at all. None. Instead, I decided to try something different. Something that I had heard was extremely refreshing. I tried Otter’s Fizzy Orange Juice! This drink is amazing!
Otter’s Fizzy Orange Juice is a lightly carbonated, lightly flavored orange soda. The rim is dipped in cinnamon sugar and an orange. This drink is amazing! The cinnamon sugar rim adds an amazing flavor to the drink. It does make a mess, so you’ll want to lick it off quick. What I didn’t lick off, I pushed into the drink and wowza! I couldn’t get enough of this drink. Very light, very refreshing, and very unique. After this drink, I never thought about ordering a Butterbeer. This is my new go-to in Diagon Alley. I will order it every time I pass through.
I’m not sure if it can be purchased in Hogsmeade, I never checked to see, but I *think* it is exclusive to The Hopping Pot in Diagon Alley. Honestly, I can’t think of anything better to do on a hot day than to grab one of these and hang out and watch everything going on around me in Diagon Alley.
