Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! Can you believe it is already August? Schools are about to start, fall is only a few short weeks away and then comes winter!
As you all know, I am a Universal Orlando junkie. I would go daily if I lived closer. Sadly, I am about 6.5 hours away. Too far for a quick trip and too close for a week long visit. I wanted to talk to you about my favorite way to get drinks and stay hydrated at Universal Orlando parks, today.
Universal Orlando has teamed up with Coca Cola to bring Freestyle machines to their parks. These machines are glorious and are popping up at locations nationwide. I most recently saw machines at places like WaWa and Firehouse Subs. These machines offer over 100 different drink options from standard Coke to flavored Sprites, and Root Beer. These machines are fantastic and at Universal Orlando, they are spread out across the parks and are located in many very convenient locations. You are never more than a few minutes away from a Freestyle machine (unless you are in one of the WWoHP locations, there are no machines in either location).
What makes these machines so fantastic? Well, first is the convenience and the selections offered. Second is the cost. All you have to do is purchase a Freestyle mug on your first visit to the park and then each day, you just activate the mug for unlimited refills on soda and icees for the day. The mugs are sold for up to $14.99 depending on how many you purchase at a time. I would recommend buying at least 2 at once to lower the cost!
Reactivating your mugs each day is a breeze. You just go to a cart that is selling them and reactivate them for about $8 per day. That is unlimited refills of soda, icees, or water for only $8 and it transfers from park to park with you. No more worrying about standing in a long line at a kiosk or food location for a drink. Just walk up to the machine and set your mug down. It reads the RFID chip in the bottom of the mug and allows you to make your selections.

It should be noted that there is a 9 minute time limit between refills in the machines. But, between that, you can grab a refill at a kiosk if there is a short line. The refills at the kiosks are free as well as long as the cup is active. My family bought these mugs last year and we use them each time we go. Some days we activate one or two of them, others we opt for water all day long which is free from dining locations and kiosks. I am a huge fan of the convenience that these mugs offer my family of 4. Sometimes, you want a soda on a hot day, and some days a cherry coke icee is what is needed!
