Taking your vacation at Universal Orlando is a great way to spend quality time together. What happens when you have smaller children, or multi-generations of family members? Grandma doesn’t want to Escape from Gringotts, or the baby is too young to ride Transformers. At Universal, one of the things that sets them apart from other Orlando Theme Parks is the Family Room / Child Swap room.

Family Rooms
All guests are encouraged to go through the Que line together, to spend the day as a family. No one is left waiting outside in the heat, rain, humidity or even rain, by themselves, while the others enjoy the ride. Enjoy the storytelling of each Que as you wind your way to the boarding area, as it unfolds around you. Once at the front of the line, the non-riders just ask for the directions to the Universal Family Room and simply wait for the riders to complete the ride.
The rooms are usually hidden, almost in plain sight within the landscape of the Que. Each room offers air conditioning, seating and usually a TV playing a video related to the storyline of the ride. It’s a great place to spend 4 or 5 minutes waiting for the rest of your party. After the ride is complete, you can meet your party and then continue on to next attraction.

Child Swap
This is a great way for everyone in the party to enjoy the ride, even if a child can’t due to ride height, or just doesn’t wanna ride for whatever reason. One adult can sit in the room with the child while the other adult or family members ride. Once the ride is over, they return to the Family Room / Child Swap and switch parents. What’s even better, the kids get to ride again with the second parent ! This is a major bonus, two rides, one wait in line.
Most of the rides with height restrictions have these rooms throughout the two parks. The family rooms are indoor and have AC, at least most of them do. Most of the rides at Universal Orlando have some sort of height requirement, see the picture below.
